Berry Wild

It is always great to be starting my workday out on the Preserve. As with most mornings, the birds were singing their chorus this morning. As I made my way to the site for today’s burial, I spooked up a rabbit who scurried off quickly into the tall grasses. I didn’t have the upper hand for long, though, as a wild turkey came down from a tree shortly afterward – and then I was the one who was startled. With all this activity on the Preserve, you wouldn’t think I would be the first to notice the newly ripe black raspberries. But there they were, still a little wet with dew and just beginning to be warm in the sunshine of early day. Yummmm! I guess these will be the last I get, so I better enjoy them!
