Visitor Information
Access to the Cemetery
The cemetery trails are part of The Wilderness Center’s public trail system, and are open to the public everyday from dawn to dusk. Cemetery gates remain closed to vehicular traffic unless services are in progress. Families who have purchased plots are given the access code to the gate and may enter and leave the cemetery at their convenience.
Public Tours
We offer public tours of the cemetery each year. After a brief presentation and Q&A, those interested will drive the one mile to the Preserve to see it first hand. We request that all attendees register in advance for these tours so that we can plan accordingly.
If you are concerned about your ability to view the preserve due to a mobility issue, please contact us to discuss other options.
Coming for Services
If you are planning to attend a graveside service and have a mobility issue, please alert Foxfield Preserve staff of your need. Seating during a service can be provided with advance notice. Attendees with mobility issues are also able to drive directly to the burial site, weather permitting.
Driving Directions
From Canton/Akron/Cleveland:
Follow I-77 south to Route 30 west. Take the exit for Rt. 21 south to Navarre. Turn onto Rt. 62 west and proceed to Wilmot. When you get to Wilmot, turn right onto Rt. 250 west. Follow Rt. 250 out of town and go about a mile. After crossing a bridge over Sugar Creek, turn right immediately onto Alabama Avenue. The Wilderness Center’s Hart Interpretive Building is about ½ mile on your left.
From Wooster:
Follow Rt. 250 east through Apple Creek & Mount Eaton. The Wilderness Center is about 4 miles east of Mount Eaton. You will turn left off Rt. 250 just before a bridge over Sugar Creek (watch for close following trucks) on to Alabama Ave.The Wilderness Center’s Hart Interpretive Building is about ½ mile on your left.
From Dover/New Philadelphia:
Travel north on 1-77 to the Strasburg exit. Exit, turn left, and drive through Strasburg. Pass the drive-in theater and turn left onto Rt. 250 W. Follow Rt. 250 through Wilmot and across a bridge over Sugar Creek. Turn right to Alabama Avenue. The Wilderness Center’s Hart Interpretive Building is about ½ mile on your left.
From Columbus:
Travel east on I-70 to I-77. Go north on I-77 to the Strasburg, Ohio exit. Exit and turn left going through Strasburg on Rt. 250 & Rt. 21. After you pass through Strasburg, Rt. 250 & Rt. 21 will split. Take Rt. 250 which is the left turn. Follow Rt. 250 through Wilmot and go about a mile. Cross a bridge over Sugar Creek and turn right immediately to Alabama Avenue. The Wilderness Center’s Hart Interpretive Building is about ½ mile on your left.
